Swedish festival with Charli XCX and Iggy Pop reveals unusual – and vital – form of getting sold out for the 2025 edition
If you already said that a festival ticket costs a kidney, the Way Out West 2025 decided to take it almost to the letter. With completely sold out tickets, the Swedish festival is offering free tickets to those who register for the National Organs Donors of the country.
The campaign, made in partnership with Sweden’s National Health and Welfare Council, seeks to draw attention to the 30% drop in new donors records in recent years. To circumvent this disinterest and make the public aware, the organization decided to bet on the passion of fans for music as an incentive to solidarity.
“We know that people would do almost anything to get into Way Out West”Said the festival manager, Kimmie Winroth.
This time you can do something really good. It is the most significant ticket you will earn in life.
The event takes place between August 7 and 9 in Gotemburg, Sweden, with a line-up that includes Charli XCX, Chappell Roan, Queens of the Stone Age, Wet Leg, Iggy Pop, Pet Shop Boys, Little Simz, Khruangbin And much more. And, as is already tradition, the festival continues to innovate: last year, created an installation that simulated an in vitro fertilization laboratory, literally thinking of winning fans that were not even born.
The current campaign reinforces the role of pop culture to mobilize important causes, mixing art, health and social engagement. And, let’s face it, to see Charli XCX and Iggy Pop Live helping to save lives is a fair exchange, isn’t it?
