Arrindo Cruz’s body, who died this Friday, 8, at 66, will be veiled this Saturday, 9, at 18 hours, in the court of the Serrano Empire, in Maduraira, in the north of Rio de Janeiro.

The Samba School reported that the singer’s farewell will start for 18 hours, in gurim format. The tribute, open to the public, will extend until 10 on Sunday morning, 10.

Gurfim is a festive trail, marked by music, food and memories, to honor those who have broken and celebrate their passage to another dimension. This tradition was brought to Brazil by slaveized Africans.

According to the Association, the burial of Arrindo Cruz will take place this Sunday, at 11, at Jardim from Saudade Cemetery, in Sulacap.

Arlindo Cruz faced serious sequences of a stroke suffered in 2017 and was hospitalized since March to treat robust bacteria due to pneumonia.

The family declared that Arrindo “was a poet of samba, a man of faith, generosity and joy, who dedicated his life to lead music and love to all those who have made their way. His voice, his compositions and his smile will remain alive in the memory and heart of millions of admirers”.
