Gilberto Gil’s first concert after the death of his daughter, Preta Gil, had a simpler audience than those who participated in the Time King Tour since March, but was equally exciting. The singer died on July 20, at the age of 50, after a long treatment against cancer. Gil would have made a concert in Belém on August 9, but he postponed the presentation. Already this Sunday, 17, he played for about an hour during the inaugural session of SP2B – Sao Paulo Beyond Business, in the Ibirapuera auditorium.

The event, closed for guests, presented the Creativity and Technology Festival which will take place in August 2026 in the main paulistano parque. In addition to Gil, there was the Israeli historian Yuval Noah Harari, who held a lesson followed by a dialogue with the journalist Pedro Bial.

The 83 -year -old singer opened the peripheral punk show, still “hidden” under a grid and the lights. When it appeared completely, it was cheered by the public, which occupied most of the 800 seats in the auditorium. He thanked everyone and greeted Harari, who called one of the most interesting thinkers of contemporary times.

Gil was sitting, playing the guitar, and was accompanied by two of his children: José Gil, on drums, and Gil well, on guitar, is the result of the wedding with Flora Gil.
