Iconic heavy metal bands are not rivals as many think, but do not necessarily think the same as all subjects
There are those who believe in the existence of a feud between Iron Maiden and Metallic. Nonsense. The second band quoted, American, is a big fan of the first, English, as well as its contemporaries. Even recorded a cover of “Remember Tomorrow”track from Maiden’s first album. There have also been exchanges of praise between the parties in the press.
But it does not mean that the groups, the two most popular in heavy metal history, have the same worldview when it comes to their own decisions. There is something that Metallica would do, but Iron Maiden not.
In an interview with journalist Eddie Trunk (via bravewords), the singer Bruce Dickinson He revealed whether his group, Maiden, to hold a season of shows as a resident of The Sphere, luxurious and technological entertainment arena in Las Vegas, in the United States. The answer was categorical:
“No.”

The reason also proved succinct, but it needs:
“This is not Iron Maiden.”
Invited to elaborate his reasoning, Dickinson, without mentioning the Metallica or any other attraction of the place, said:
“Iron Maiden is about the relationship between band and audience. The show is an expansion of what we do. As far as I understand, Sphere is comprehensive and I appreciate what you say. But I think the band would be very uncomfortable with the idea. We do a lot of things: we walk and run around. But what is the meaning of sphere?
The discomfort mentioned by Bruce has to do with the fact that Sphere has, as a focus, an immersive audiovisual experience. The artist practically becomes supporting, as the highlight is the sound and visual apparatus that include an internal 16K LED screen, speakers with bundle training technologies, wavep synthesis and 4D physical effects.
METALLICA TOPARIA PLAY IN SPHERE
In turn, Metallica would accept to perform at Sphere. In an interview with broadcaster Howard Stern, the drummer Lars Ulrich He declared, when asked about rumors that he would play there:
“I will not confirm anything, because there is nothing to confirm. But I will not deny it, because we are all fans of this place. All our entrepreneurs and producers have been there and took a look. It’s something we are considering, [mas] Nothing is recorded in stone or with green light. It’s something we are considering at some point, when the 2026 tour is over … I won’t roll up; I would love to do this, that there is no doubt about it. Asking my opinion, I would love to do that. ”

Ulrich added about the place:
“I was there seeing the U2 on the first night. When they climbed on that stage, I wanted to see personally before seeing on Youtube or read about. I was there, like everyone else who was there that night, and I was completely impressed. I felt that this was the beginning of a new chapter in live performances.”
U2, Phish, Dead & Company, Eagles, Anyma, Kenny Chesney and BACKSTREET BOYS They have already performed or continued playing at Sphere. THE Zach Brown Band It holds a season between December and January, next year.
