Music Shakes awakens after a decade of silence

Brittany Howard’s band has returned with everything: ‘Another Life’ is the first new single in 10 years and is already with a marked world tour

THE Alabama Shakes It’s back and the crowd can celebrate. “Another Life”the first unique single in a decade has just come out of the oven and already confirms what everyone expected: the band has not lost their hand. The sound came along with the news of a world tour in 2025, officially ending the hiatus that began in 2018.

Brittany Howard I needed her time. During the break, he released two solo albums that pumped: Jame in 2019 and What now in 2024. Meanwhile, Heath Foggthe guitarist, played his project Sun on Shade In 2020. Each in his square, but this solo experience changed everything when they met again in the studio.

“Another Life” It looks like Psych-Soul and shows a more mature band. It’s not that “Hold on” that everyone knows, not even the weight of “Don’t Wanna Fight”. It’s another, more subtle footprint. Howard It sums it well, “Not everything that is powerful is high, not everything that is silent is vulnerable.” Translating: They learned to make noise without screaming.

In a press release she said:

When I wrote ‘Another Life’I was thinking of all the lives we carry, the ones we are living now, the ones that are gone because of different choices, the ‘and if’, which was not meant to be, the goodbye and the unexpected meetings that seem divine. This song is about these wires and how they extend through time and space, connecting every version of who we are. It is about letting them together, let them harmonize, and realize that goodbye is not really goodbye. It’s more like ‘until soon’. A collective story that never stops unfolding. I’m glad we opened this door to this reality to make music together again.

The band did a surface show at the end of 2024, a warm of what was to come. Who was said that the look was different: stage full of plants, effects that resembled swamps, a whole vibe of a wild in the South American nature. And the Alabama Shakesbut version 2.0.

Remember that they stopped at the height. Sound & Color2015, had taken four nominations to Grammy And shown that the band could go far beyond Blues-Rock. Now, with “Another Life”it is clear that that 2015 experimentation was just the beginning.

The lap came with the announcement of a tour that already starts next month in the United States and goes to Mexico. It is still too early to think of dates in Brazil.
