HBO will soon bring viewers back to the world of Westeros with dragon housebut the new program will not only be game of thrones 2.0, and not just because it takes place nearly 200 years earlier in the timeline. According to George RR Martin fire and blood the history of the Targaryen dynasty in contrast to the A song of ice and fire novels that inspired game of Thrones, house of dragons it will introduce Daenaerys predecessors in a relatively grand way. Creator and co-executive producer Ryan J. Condal spoke to Gossipify about the advice he received from the author.
Gossipify spoke to Ryan J. Condal on the red carpet of the house of dragons first event, and Condal shared what George RR Martin (which he had key details that he wanted to include in the program ) addressed the person who would bring the game of Thrones The world returns to HBO in a new way. When asked what advice he had received from Martin, Condal shared:
I think he just wanted a fan of his books who cared about the underlying material and was also a fan of the original series. We worked a lot together to break the original story, I think we did a good job and I think he’s happy enough. Her advice was about multicolored dragons and a lot of heraldry, I think we provided it. It’s like a technicolor version of Westeros.
when game of Thrones started, Westeros wasn’t even an entire generation away from the civil war that brought down the Targaryen dynasty. when house of dragons begins, the Targaryens are in power and the Trailers suggest the biggest threat one of them holding the Game of Thrones comes from another member of his family. (An actor was very possessive of this throne. .) It is possible that this era is brighter and more colorful than Western Continent game of Throneswhich at the beginning was more or less fresh from the war.
Condal’s comments on “interrupting the original story” should be exciting to fans, and not just because working closely with George RR Martin should mean the series stays closer to the author’s original vision than in recent seasons. game of Thronesafter showrunners David Benioff and DB Weiss sold out A song of ice and fire starting material. (Martin is still working winter winds like the sixth round.)
fire and blood is a fictional story book, hence the house of dragons Obviously the team is going in “original” directions with the story to fill some gaps. After all, this era is only part of fire and blood, which is just a book about the Targaryens. As Ryan Condal pointed out, the new program will reveal much more about this legendary family that was not part of it. game of Thrones. He shared how he thinks the series will feature more Targaryen aspects, saying:
We don’t know much about the Targaries as a home. We know a Targaryan and that’s Danaerys, but she didn’t grow up in Westeros, she didn’t grow up with any family. She was the sister of the beggar king who searched the goodness of strangers. I think you know the “legend” of the house, but this is the real story. I think this is the wish fulfilled by the fans. They have always dreamed of that golden age of the Targaryans and the 17 dragons and the shining city on the hill, but they have not seen it. So I think taking them into that world and showing them what it really was will make them come back every week.
house of dragons will expand what fans knew (or thought they knew). game of Thrones. Paddy Considine’s King Viserys is definitely not a “beggar king”, and there are Targaryens to sell in this era … which will apparently cause some trouble, with Emma D’Arcy’s Rhaenyra and Matt Smith’s Demon both. in the running to be named heirs to the king.
