Solo Musical The eyes of Nara Leão debuts in São Paulo in October, at the Renaissance Theater, and celebrates the trajectory of the iconic singer in the year when the show Opinion turns 60
The trajectory of one of the most influential artists of Brazilian culture will be revived on the stages of São Paulo. Starring Zezé Polessa(Top model), the solo musical Nara Leo’s eyes Premiere at the Renaissance Theater on October 10th. With text and direction of Miguel Falabella (Leaves down), the show makes a poetic evocation to the singer who became a symbol of avant -garde and freedom in the 60s, 70s and 80s.
The debut takes place at a symbolic moment: exact 60 years after the launch of the Opinion Showmilestone of protest music in Brazil and one of the crucial moments in the career of Nara. The project was born from the fascination of Polessa by the artist, intensified during the pandemic after reading a biography. The actress took the desire to interpret her to her friend and longtime partner, Falabellawho accepted the invitation to write and direct the work.
Built in a flow of consciousness, the text does not follow a linear chronology. On the scene, the character seems to emerge from another time to share with the public their memories, songs and reflections on topics such as Bossa Nova, Tropicalism, Military Repression, Feminism and Exile.
Zezé Polessawho sings live classics like “The band”, “Corcovado” and “Ash Wednesday March”It points out that the intention is not to create an imitation. “I don’t try to imitate your way of speaking or singing. There is a freedom in this whole process – it could not be different with someone who has always been so free,” comments the actress.
The musical direction is Josimar Carneirowith scenario of Marco Lima and lighting of Cesar Pivetti.
