BTS: Members Will Serve 18 Months in the Military, Says Ambassador

BTS members were able to postpone, but must fulfill mandatory service in South Korea

Members of BTS must perform mandatory military service in South Korea. According to the South Korean ambassador to England, Gunn Kimk-pop group should set an example for other young people.

“We very much hope that young Korean men will serve the country. BTS are role models for many young generations here,” he explained about the mandatory 18 months in an interview with The Sunday Times (via daily mail).

The members of BTS, RM, Jin, SUGA, J-Hope, Jimin,V and Jungkook, have had the opportunity to postpone enlistment, but are not free. The age limit for ordinary citizens is 28 years old, but artists of great international impact have certain privileges – such as Jin, who turns 30 at the end of 2022.
