Some TikTok users have shared clues that they say point to the pop star using Artificial Intelligence to create promos for The Life of a Showgirl
As with everything related to the release of any album, Taylor Swiftall components of The Life of a Showgirl were meticulously planned and implemented starting last week, from teasers, launch events to talk show appearances. And everything went according to plan — except, according to some Swiftiesfor an aspect that displeased and irritated them.
Alongside the album’s multifaceted release, physical orange doors began popping up in cities around the world—Nashville, London, Las Vegas, among them—each displaying QR codes that connected fans to brief travelogue-style videos evoking those locales. But some Swifties They say they noticed strange irregularities in the clips, which can still be found online. A squirrel that, for a fleeting second, is missing its fourth limb. Different fonts used for the same letters in a notebook. A gym treadmill cut out with the word “stop” displayed. The light coming in through a window that doesn’t match its shadow on the ground. Dumbbells in an exercise room that don’t appear to be the same pair.
And with these sightings came… The AI Theory of The Life of a Showgirl. Since last weekend, a portion of the internet, including some fans of Swiftbecame convinced that the pop star or her team used Artificial Intelligence technology in some of these promotional clips. Accounts TikTok pointed out the “inconsistencies” and expressed deep disappointment with the idea that Swift would turn to such technology rather than hiring professional artists to create the visuals — especially after having her own likeness used in an AI video in 2024 that falsely suggested she was endorsing the President Trump. “This really brought out my fears about AI and the dangers of spreading false information,” he said. Swift at the time, after videos emerged in the run-up to last year’s presidential election.
Alyssa Yungone Swiftie assumed “since elementary school”, published one of these criticisms in his TikTok. “The most disappointing aspect of this is the sheer hypocrisy of using AI in project design. Taylor“, he said Yung the Rolling Stone. “She herself has publicly spoken out against AI and [a tecnologia] has been repeatedly used against her — pornographic deepfake, fake election endorsements, etc. Furthermore, Taylor Swift has been advocating for ownership of its art for years and generative AI uses stolen art to create its images/videos. The fact that she/her team chose to go this route instead of hiring a true 3D/CGI artist when they seemingly have an infinite budget (as a billionaire signed to a major record label) is a disappointing sign of the times.”
Along with the videos from TikTokthe hashtag SwiftiesAgainstAI emerged to highlight the environmental impact of AI. “Please learn to do better next time,” one post read. As a recent MIT study assessed, the computing power required by AI technology can “require a staggering amount of electricity, leading to increased carbon dioxide emissions and pressures on the power grid” and “a large amount of water… needed to cool the hardware used to train, deploy, and refine generative AI models, which can overwhelm municipal water supplies and disrupt ecosystems.” locations.”
But who exactly created and published these videos (which also appear to contain a good deal of CGI)? It was the Team Taylor or an outsourced company? THE Google had something to do with it? A representative of Swift did not respond to the company’s request for comment. Rolling Stonenor the Googleassuming the company had anything to do with AI to begin with.
@goojiepooj Edit: to find the videos search “orange door” plus any of the city names like Berlin, Paris, or Chicago. “Orange door Santa Monica” is the most obviously there. these promo videos have been set to private since I made this. But one side of this mystery remains undeniable. Rather than attacking those who pointed out the supposedly AI-created images, many seem to agree with the detectives. “It’s 100% AI,” wrote one. “Another main clue is that there are cuts every 6 seconds and the camera is static except for simple zoom in/out.” Others wrote, “Sadly that she would do this considering she could absolutely afford real CGI designers and the battle she personally had for her own intellectual property” and “Lol yeah that’s very suspicious. Given how she trained her fans to look at every detail, I don’t know how they didn’t think people would notice that.”
In turn, Yung says she is surprised that others Swifties are agreeing with her for reporting the alleged AI videos. “For my years of supporting Taylor SwiftI realized that people will blindly support anything she does and any criticism of her is met with extreme backlash,” she says. “I’m noticing in this album cycle that more Swifties They’re moving away from that hive mentality and really criticizing it when they think it’s valid.”
