Former Verve singer highlights cultural impact of ‘Oasis Live ’25’ on young fans and predicts repercussions on British music in the coming years
Richard Ashcroftformer vocalist of The Vervedeclared in an interview with TalkSPORT that the reunion tour of Oasis acted as a catalyst for a new generation of fans. Ashcroft opened the shows Oasis Live ’25which brought together approximately 1.5 million people throughout the season.
During the conversation, the musician reported having been repeatedly approached by fans during a trip to Cornwall, many of them young people who attended the concerts. Second Ashcroftseveral of these fans shared that they started composing music and joined music schools after the performances. The artist projects that the cultural impact of this movement will be seen in two or three years, when 16 and 17-year-old teenagers form their own bands.
Ashcroft contrasted the career model presented by the tour with the format of programs such as X Factorwhere artists give up creative autonomy. He highlighted the importance of Noel Gallagher as a composer, referring to the 22 songs presented on the tour as a phenomenal demonstration of musical authorship. For the singer, seeing young people influenced by this model of authorial work represents a positive advance in mainstream culture.
The musician also addressed the younger generations’ lack of knowledge about the traditional process of building a career in music. Ashcroft mentioned that young people even asked if he had participated in the X Factorhighlighting a disconnect with traditional methods that involve rehearsals in rooms, presentations in small venues and the gradual development of artistic identity.
Richard Ashcroft released his seventh solo album, Lovin’ You this Friday, October 10, 2025. The artist is scheduled to perform a series of UK arena shows between November 2025 and July 2026, including performances in Manchester, London, Glasgow, Birmingham and Newcastle. Due to high demand, extra dates were added to the tour, including shows at Alexandra Palace Park and the Englefield Estate.
Ashcroft was also confirmed as the opening attraction for the Oasis in South America. All South American tour dates are sold out.
