The South Korean quartet BLACKPINK set a new record on Youtube this week, surpassing 80 million on their official channel on the platform.
It was the first time an artists channel had reached that number, making the K-Pop group the most followed on YouTube. With the channel opening on June 28, 2016, it took the group six years – and around 300 video posts – to hit the mark.
It’s worth noting that BLACKPINK already had the most subscribed music channel on YouTube when it hit 75 million subscribers.
This year, the group also recorded the largest release of a clip on the video portal with the hit “Pink Venom”, which reached 86.2 million views on its first day.
Elected on Friday (8/19) the “greatest female group in the world” by the American magazine “Time”, the quartet formed by the singers Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa also participated in the VMA 2022, an MTV award where they won in Best Performance category of the Metaverse and where the singer Lisa also won the award for the best K-pop for her solo single “LALISA”.
“Pink Venom” is the first single from the “Born Pink” album, released on September 16th and which has already collected over 2 million pre-orders. So here’s another record.
