Arranger, composer and architect he had been fighting cancer for years
He died this Friday, 4, the musician and architect Paul Jobim, 72, after battling cancer. Composer, guitarist and arranger was the son of the maestro Tom Jobim (1927-1994), and left two sons, the pianist Daniel Jobimand the film producer, Dora Jobim.
With the musical vein of the family, Paulo Hermanny Jobim he has participated in works of names such as Milton Nascimento, his father, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Chico Buarque, Sarah Vaughan, Astrud Gilberto and Lisa Ono. And he was still busy keeping his father’s job alive, he was president of the Antonio Carlos Jobim Institute, founded in 2001.
Together with Daniel Jobim (piano and voice), Jaques Morelenbaum (cello) and Paula Morelenbaum (voice), he founded the Jobim Morelenbaum Quartet. With him she released the album Jobim Morelenbaum Quartet and published it in Brazil and also in other countries.
Among the works to preserve the memory of his father, in 2000 and 2001, he was general coordinator, arranger and musical director of Jobim Song Book – biography and transcription of the complete work of maestro Antonio Carlos Jobim (about 220 passages).
