Robert Smith denied the rumors about the casting of the The Cure as one of the attractions for the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup 2022in Qatar. The information was confirmed by the singer of the British band through Twitter this Sunday, 13.
The tournament starts this Sunday, November 20th. So far, the concert of Jungkook, one of the singers of the South Korean band, is confirmed. BTS, at the stadium Al Bayt, in Doha. It is speculated that Shakira and black Eyed Peas will also be on stage, but FIFA has yet to confirm the names (via The globe).

The announcement came shortly after Dua Lipa denied rumors he would perform at the opening ceremony, calling on the Muslim Persian Gulf country to “fulfill all the human rights promises it made when it won the right to host the World Cup”. Furthermore, Rod Stewart confirmed this week that he also turned down the opportunity, worth nearly £1 million (about R$6 million at current exchange rates), on moral grounds.
