One of the producers responsible for helping to popularize hip hop, Rick Rubin opined how Paul McCartneylegendary musician and former member of Beatlesis the “best bass player of all time”. rubin worked with names like Beastie Boys, LL CoolJ, Public Enemy and Run-DMC
It is worth remembering how the producer and McCartney worked together on McCartney 3,2,1a documentary series released in 2021 that is available on Star+. Furthermore, rubin also praised the “simpler” approach of Paul McCartney when composing music.
“I thought about how everything I saw related to the Beatlesis about the composition or the beatlemania. Paul McCartneythe bassist, or Paul McCartneythe musician, because he plays everything – that’s a little story told,” said Rick Rubin during magazine interview MOJO (via NME).
“You just think of him as paul From Beatlesbut in my opinion, he’s the best of all the bass players, he’s number one,” he continued. “What surprised me was when he sat down at the piano and started showing me how to write a song.”
He’d say, ‘Look, you could do it like this,’ and what he’d show me was the simplest thing, but then he started moving his fingers ever so slightly, and all of a sudden it evolved into ‘Hey Jude‘ or ‘let it be.’ He’s using this technique that any kid could do, so it turns into one of the greatest songs of all time!
