Nominated for a Grammy in the 1970s, the emotional track packs the last scenes of “Long, Long Time”, the latest chapter in the plot
With an ending quite different from the video game, the third episode of The Last of Usbrought a lot of emotion to the series through the story of bill and Frank. And, interestingly, it is a song from the 1970s with the same name as the chapter that closes its plot.
The relationship between bill and Frank begins shortly after the Cordyceps outbreak, when bill (Nick Offerman) find Frank (Murray Bartlett) trapped in one of his traps and takes him to his home. at the residence, Frank find the piano bill and flips through some sheet music that catches his eye.
Among the collections, the character finds the collection The Best of Linda Ronstadt and, after stating that it is your favorite, Frank selects a track. Its about “long long time“, launched by Linda Ronstadt on disk Silk Pursein 1970. The beautiful serenade ends with a kiss between the characters, which triggers a lasting relationship.
Indicated to Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance in 1971, “long long time” has a rather sad tone, for narrating an unrequited love. In the plot of The Last of Ushowever, the track cradles the relationship between bill and Frank — and, in a way, served as a trigger for the love between the characters.
“We had the idea that bill and Frank would connect through a song. That would essentially be what it would take Frank to feel different about billnot just saying ‘oh, I understand what’s going on with this guy,’ but also wanting him,” explained the director Craig Mazinto the podcast HBO’s The Last of Us (via mashable).
Big milestone of the episode, “long long time” takes on even more meaning when it plays on the radio in the van bill While Joel and Ellie hit the road after discovering the end of the couple. This is because, far beyond indicating how much bill and Joel are similar, the track still reminds us of the exciting relationship that we follow during the chapter.
