Nieves Álvarez Steps Out in Madrid With Onitsuka Tiger

Nieves Álvarez is back in Madrid after several weeks on her honeymoon in Japan and the Maldives. The model shared her first images in the Spanish capital on social media, wearing a comfortable, urban outfit true to her usual style, with all the attention on a pair of sneakers tied directly to one of her trip's destinations.

Álvarez captioned the photos "back to Madrid... with a suitcase full of Tokyo," signaling that her Japanese inspiration had traveled home with her. The clearest sign of that influence was her choice of footwear, one of the most iconic models made by the Japanese brand Onitsuka Tiger.

The sneakers behind the look

For her return to routine, Álvarez chose the Mexico 66, a retro-inspired Onitsuka Tiger model that has long been one of the Japanese brand's biggest icons. She wore them in a striking yellow and black combination, a contrast that added personality and broke up the otherwise understated outfit.

The Mexico 66 design takes its name from the sneakers that marked the brand's history at the 1968 Mexico City Olympic Games. The style has remained a timeless favorite among fashion lovers season after season thanks to its streamlined silhouette and vintage look.

Basics with one standout piece

To let the shoes take center stage, Álvarez built the rest of her outfit around black basics. She wore a fitted knit midi dress with a bodysuit-style top and a flowing skirt, a versatile piece that works both in summer and in the early days of the cooler season.

She completed the look with a raffia shopper bag, oversized black sunglasses and natural makeup, showing that elegance can also be found in the simplest outfits.

After a honeymoon marked by the striking landscapes of Japan and the Maldives and a run of polished looks, Álvarez returned to Madrid with the same style lesson she started the trip with: invest in quality basics and elevate them with a standout accessory. This time, that accessory was a pair of Japanese sneakers that have already become an object of desire among fashion lovers.
