The channel focuses mainly on political news, analysis and debate. Testing had been under way since late February, with what the outlet described as several starts and stops, before concluding on the day the official broadcasts began.

Regular programming schedule

Canal RED's regular broadcasts on Dial 150 are built around a grid dedicated to political news, analysis, interviews and opinion. The backbone of the schedule is 'La Base', which airs four times a day on weekdays at 09:30, 12:30, 14:00 and 20:00. The 20:00 broadcast is one of the channel's main slots and leads directly into 'Al lío', which starts at 21:00.

'La Base América Latina' also has a significant presence, with one daily broadcast at 19:00 and numerous repeats over the weekend. 'Sinsonte', a political affairs programme hosted by Daniela Pastrana, airs at 15:15 and returns again overnight.

Night and weekend lineup

The nighttime schedule includes 'En ocasiones veo fraudes', shown on Wednesdays and Fridays from 22:00, and 'Tu amigo y vecino', which airs on Thursdays in the same slot. Both programmes run two consecutive half-hour episodes.

The overnight hours are reserved mainly for repeats and for 'Fisuras', which airs at midnight on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. On weekends, Canal RED departs from its weekday structure to offer extended blocks of repeats of its main programmes.

A step forward for the channel

Joining Dial 150 on Movistar Plus brings to a close several weeks of technical testing and marks a significant step for Canal RED, which becomes part of the linear offering of Spain's leading pay-television operator and is now available to all of its subscribers.

Pablo Iglesias, who leads the channel, previously served as Spain's deputy prime minister and led the left-wing party Podemos. Movistar Plus is the pay-television platform operated by Telefonica.
