Astile, the 23-year-old son of Libertines musician Pete Doherty and singer Lisa Moorish, published a foul-mouthed rant on social media on Sunday night.

The 23-year-old did not address anyone in particular in the impassioned post, in which he wished a painful terminal disease on the unnamed recipient.

In the message, Astile wrote: "If you're seeing this, I mean this message with the utmost sincerity: I hope you die of a painful disease like AIDS or cancer. F*** your life and anyone you care about, you c***. F*** you."

The Daily Mail reported that it had contacted Astile for further information.

Astile is the son of Pete Doherty, 47, and Lisa Moorish, 54. The pair met while Doherty's indie rock band The Libertines were on tour in 2002 and had a brief fling that resulted in Moorish giving birth to Astile the following year.

Pete Doherty's relationship with his son Astile

Doherty rose to prominence in the early 2000s as the co-frontman of The Libertines alongside Carl Barat, spearheading the British garage rock revival before later forming the band Babyshambles. Throughout the 2000s, his musical output was frequently overshadowed by tabloid coverage of his substance abuse.

Because of his drug habit, Doherty was once banned from seeing Astile during his son's early childhood. After going to rehabilitation and getting clean, the musician was previously reported to have become a much more hands-on father.

Speaking to the British newspaper Metro in 2009, Moorish explained the thinking behind her decision to allow Doherty back into their son's life.

She told the publication: "Peter has on-and-off problems with his recovery so it was a really difficult decision to make. But when he came out of rehab last year, and started to get his life in order, I thought the time was right. I want Astile to have a dad."

Doherty was also reported to have said: "When I can claim to have any sort of control over my own life, I'm going to take some responsibility for Astile. I love the little fella."

In June 2023, Astile shared a picture of himself with his father on Instagram, four years after Doherty got clean from hard drugs such as heroin.

Alongside Astile, Doherty has two younger children. He has a 12-year-old daughter named Aisling with the model Lindi Hingston, and welcomed his third child, a daughter named Billie-May, in May 2024 with his wife, the French musician and filmmaker Katia De Vidas.

Astile's music career and tribute to Liam Gallagher

Having inherited his father's physical resemblance, Astile has followed in the footsteps of both Doherty and Moorish by exploring a career in music and poetry.

Moorish, a London-born singer and songwriter who released solo material in the 1990s and fronted the indie rock band Kill City in the early 2000s, has remained active in music. In 2024, Astile was pictured alongside his mother at the launch party for her album Divine Chaos at The Groucho Club, the private members' club in Soho, London.

Earlier that year, Astile made headlines after showcasing his singing voice in a Liam Gallagher tribute act in Essex, the county in south-east England.

Dubbed "Liam On Sea", the tribute performance was held in January 2024 at The Boat Yard, where Astile works as a barman.

Family ties to Liam Gallagher and half-sister Molly

The decision to emulate the former Oasis frontman raised eyebrows at the time because of Astile's family connection to Gallagher. Astile's older half-sister, 28-year-old Molly, is Gallagher's daughter.

Gallagher, who rose to fame in the 1990s Britpop movement as the lead singer of the Manchester rock band Oasis, fathered Molly in 1998 with Moorish. However, Gallagher was not involved in Molly's life until 2018, when the pair met for the first time when she was 19 years old.

Speaking after his tribute gig in January 2024, Astile went on YouTube to address the reaction to the performance and clear up assumptions about his family.

He said: "It really is as simple as this: My sister and her relationship with her father is her business."

Addressing his own contact with the Oasis vocalist, Astile said: "My relationship with Liam Gallagher, well I haven't seen the guy in four-and-a-half years. I hung out with him for a little bit. He was a really nice guy. We got along fine."

He added: "At the end of the day, it's my sister's dad and it's not for me to intrude on that. It's not fair and I wouldn't want to."

Astile's plans for his own music career

During the same YouTube video, Astile explained that he viewed himself as an ordinary person who happened to have famous relatives, and said he would have performed the tribute act regardless of his family tree.

He said: "I'm as average as the next person. Except that I just happen to be related to all these people. If I wasn't related to all these people, I don't doubt that I would be a fan of all these people and I probably still would have done something like this."

Discussing his ambitions for the future, Astile revealed: "I really want to focus on my own career and do my own stuff. You could say this was a stepping stone. I wanted to prove I could get something like this done and now I want to prove I can get something else done if that makes sense."

He also responded to persistent speculation regarding Moorish's relationship with both Gallagher and Doherty, saying the subject should be put to bed.

Astile said: "In regards to my mum's relationship with Mr Gallagher and my dad, and stuff like that, it's just completely unrelated to all of this. It's the past. The past is the past. The future is the future and the now is now, more importantly."
