Pluribus season 2 progress updated by Apple TV executive

Apple TV executive Eddy Cue and series creator Vince Gilligan have provided an update on the progress of Pluribus season two. The second installment of the science fiction television drama is advancing rapidly in development, with cameras expected to begin rolling within a couple of months.

Gilligan confirmed that narrative work on the upcoming season has made significant headway. If production deadlines remain on track, principal photography for the new episodes could commence as early as this autumn.

Although scripts for the second season have not yet reached their final phase, active writing remains underway. The production team is adhering to a planned filming window that brings clearer vision to the current state of the series.

Executive confidence in Vince Gilligan

Apple TV executive Eddy Cue addressed the project status and confirmed that work on season two is officially in motion. Cue stated that he has not personally read any of the scripts yet, but emphasized his total confidence in what Gilligan is constructing.

Cue described Gilligan as an incredible creative force, adding that he feels no concern over the upcoming material. The executive noted that he remains certain the new season will deliver high quality content for subscribers.

Gilligan is widely recognized for creating the critically acclaimed drama series Breaking Bad and its acclaimed spin-off Better Call Saul. His latest project Pluribus marks his high-profile return to television with a science fiction premise developed specifically for Apple TV.

Season two order and premise

Pluribus gained initial momentum when Apple TV gave the show a rare two-season order prior to its debut. The series premiered on the streaming platform in late 2025 and quickly established itself as a major flagship title for the service.

Actress Rhea Seehorn stars in the leading role as Carol Sturka. The narrative follows her character as one of the few human beings who remain immune after a mysterious event forces the rest of humanity into a collective hive mind.

Gilligan has been open about the long filming process required for the second season. The creator acknowledged that television production of this scale involves multi-stage planning before cameras can begin capturing footage.

Potential release wait and expectations

Despite the proximity of the production stage, viewers may still face a considerable wait before season two reaches screens. Industry release timelines routinely extend longer than audiences anticipate due to extensive post-production requirements.

Apple TV has not yet announced an official premiere date for the new episodes of Pluribus. Fans will have to await further announcements from the network as filming gets underway later this year.
