Prime Video has started filming Tour de France, a new drama series about professional cycling that will premiere on the streaming service in 2027.
The production is being made in collaboration with public broadcaster France Télévisions and will premiere exclusively for subscribers in Spain, France, and Portugal.
Creators Alexandre Delaporte and Grégory Nicolas developed the series from an original idea by French director Louis Leterrier. Jean-Baptiste Pouilloux and Frédéric Jardin are directing the project.
The story centers on Nora, played by Joséphine Japy, a powerful businesswoman who buys Deepblue, a French cycling team on the brink of bankruptcy. Nora attempts to apply corporate management methods to the peloton, only to discover that professional cycling operates under vastly different rules than the corporate world.
Within the team, Nora must navigate tensions between two key cyclists. Julien Frison plays Mathias, a former cycling star struggling to stay at the top level following an injury. Félix Lefebvre portrays Ayden, an unknown prodigy who emerges to become one of French cycling's brightest prospects.
Tension between individual ambitions and team goals drives the narrative as the riders struggle to trust each other. The Tour de France, the annual multi-stage road race, serves as both the setting and dramatic engine for the team's physical and emotional trials.
Cast and production details
The cast also features Jonathan Zaccaï, alongside Spanish actors Eric Masip and Joan Amargós. Masip previously appeared in Enfrentados: Marfil, while Amargós featured in A muerte. Prime Video has not yet revealed which characters the two Spanish actors will play.
Pouilloux previously directed the television series L’Opéra, while Jardin directed the thriller feature film Noche de venganza.
Federation Studios is producing the series in co-production with Umedia and in collaboration with uFund. The project forms part of Prime Video's strategy to expand its lineup of European fiction productions with sports themes and international reach.
Release plans
Prime Video has confirmed that Tour de France will release at an unspecified date in 2027. The series will be included as part of standard Prime Video subscriptions in Spain, France, and Portugal.
