Spanish broadcaster RTVE has commissioned production company Shine Iberia to launch a new educational gardening show for public television channel La 2.
The upcoming format was exclusively reported by television news outlet Poco Pasa TV. The series will feature agricultural engineer Iñigo Segurola and gardener Leticia Rodríguez de la Fuente as co-hosts.
Under the new production, the presenting duo will visit private gardens belonging to different owners across Spain to evaluate each property and determine which space is the best. The series will also explore the personal stories of the individual homeowners while providing practical advice, creative ideas, and key landscaping concepts designed to bring garden maintenance closer to viewers.
The commission builds on RTVE's recent focus on horticultural programming on La 2. During the 2026 broadcasting season, veteran television presenter Mercedes Milá hosted the interview series Me meto en un jardín on the same public channel.
Presenter backgrounds and horticultural experience
Co-host Iñigo Segurola is an agricultural technical engineer and professional landscaper who became one of the most recognizable figures in television gardening through his appearances on the instructional programs Bricomanía and Decogarden.
Segurola is also the creator of Lur Garden, a 20,000-square-metre botanical project located in Oiartzun, in the Basque Country of northern Spain, which he has spent years developing.
Co-host Leticia Rodríguez de la Fuente is a gardener and flower farmer who is the daughter of the late Spanish naturalist and wildlife broadcaster Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente. She manages La Vega de Ceres, a garden and flower farm situated in the province of Guadalajara, northeast of Madrid.
Rodríguez de la Fuente is the author of the book Tocar tierra and hosts the podcast Conversaciones en el Jardín. The two presenters previously collaborated on an episode of her podcast, where they discussed the importance of gardens and shared their experiences building natural spaces from scratch.
Return of MasterChef Celebrity with returning contestants
The new gardening series marks a continuation of Shine Iberia's expanded production footprint with Spanish public broadcaster RTVE. The production house, which operates as the Iberian branch of international television group Banijay, is also preparing MasterChef Celebrity Legends.
Promotional broadcasts from RTVE announced to culinary show fans that the time for redemption had arrived. The special celebrity edition will gather 15 past contestants who competed in previous seasons of the culinary competition without winning the title.
MasterChef Celebrity Legends will form a core element of channel La 1's prime-time schedule following the summer television season as RTVE begins its 2026-27 broadcasting calendar.
RTVE routinely reserves Monday evening broadcasts on La 1 for MasterChef programming. The Monday slot is currently occupied by the summer entertainment show El Grand Prix del Verano. MasterChef Celebrity Legends is expected to premiere in that timeslot the week immediately following the conclusion of the summer series.
The roster of 15 returning celebrities spans multiple past seasons of the competition:
- Bullfighter Manuel Díaz El Cordobés from season one
- Actor and comedian Edu Soto, model Juan Betancourt, actress Bibiana Fernández, and comedian Anabel Alonso from season two
- Filmmaker Santiago Segura and actress Paz Vega, who finished as runner-up to Ona Carbonell, from season three
- Actor Juanjo Ballesta and comedian Florentino Fernández from season five
- Singer David Bustamante, who reached the final in season six
- Singer-songwriter Ruth Lorenzo and fashion designer María Escoté, a finalist in season seven
- Businessman José María Martínez-Bordiu, known as Pocholo, and influencer Marina Rivers, who finished as runner-up to Inés Hernand in season nine
- Rap artist Mala Rodríguez from season ten
Because none of the 15 participating celebrities secured a win during their original appearances, the upcoming edition offers each contestant a second opportunity to claim victory in the program's archives.
Casting opens for MasterChef Junior season twelve
Shine Iberia has also confirmed through its official social media channels that production is underway for the twelfth season of MasterChef Junior, with casting applications officially open to child contestants.
The casting announcement was delivered in a video presentation featuring Catalan chef Jordi Cruz. The promotional message did not specify an official premiere date for the new junior season.
Programming projections point to a premiere during the Christmas 2026 holiday season, matching the winter scheduling model utilized by RTVE for season eleven during the 2024-25 season.
Chef Jordi Cruz and chef Pepe Rodríguez will return to host and judge the junior competition. They will be joined on the judging panel for the first time by food writer Marta Sanahuja.
Sanahuja debuted within the franchise during the most recent adult season of MasterChef, where she joined the panel as a replacement for longtime judge Samantha Vallejo-Nágera.
