Television presenter Samantha Armytage has firmly denied long-running speculation of a feud with former Sunrise co-host Natalie Barr at the Logie Awards.
Speaking on the red carpet at the ceremony, the 49-year-old veteran broadcaster appeared baffled by reports suggesting there was bad blood between the pair following her departure from the Seven Network breakfast show in 2021.
When asked about the rumoured rift with Barr, 58, Armytage was quick to dismiss the claims while taking aim at how female television personalities are portrayed in the media.
"They always say [there's a feud]... what is this thing?" Armytage said, wondering aloud why public interest centers on rivalries between women while disagreements between men go largely unnoticed.
"Why are women always 'feuding'? Why's it not men ever feuding?" Armytage added. "Let me tell you, there's lots of men feuding in television, but it only seems to be women [reported on]."

Armytage, who recently filled in on the Today show desk, remained emphatic when shutting down suggestions that she and her former colleague are at odds. "There's no feud. There's no feud," she said.

Farewell lunch and magazine column controversy
The comments follow years of speculation surrounding the relationship between the former breakfast television hosts after Armytage made a shock departure from Sunrise in March 2021.
Barr stepped into the lead co-hosting role after Armytage left the program on March 15, 2021. Barr has also previously dismissed suggestions of tension between them.
Speculation escalated in March 2021 after it emerged that Barr had not been informed about Armytage's star-studded farewell lunch at Catalina Restaurant in Rose Bay, Sydney.
Appearing on the Kyle & Jackie O show at the time, former Sunrise co-host David Koch admitted that he and Barr were not invited to the event. "We didn't know about it," Koch said, noting that the Sunrise team is strict about events due to their early start.

Barr added during the broadcast: "And we had been having Champagne in the office for a while."
Tension had also surfaced earlier that month after Armytage wrote a column for Stellar magazine claiming that bosses do not expect as much from married women with children.
Armytage wrote in her column that "bosses don't ask as much of you if you're a wife or mother," adding: "I've never shied away from hard work, but there was an expectation that Sam would do it because she's got nothing else going on. [Sometimes I'd think], 'Well, actually, I'd get something else going on if you didn't make me do this'."
Barr later responded in an interview with The Courier Mail, stating that while everyone is entitled to an opinion, she has always worked just as hard as her unmarried or childless female colleagues.
"I don't feel like I've worked less being a wife and mum. I don't feel like I've had to prove anything either, that's how it's always worked for me," said Barr, who shares two teenage sons with husband Andrew Thompson.
Barr added: "I feel like I've worked really hard and I've put my hand up for every job, every news story that involved going away. I've been to floods and fires and terror attacks and US elections and I love taking on all that extra load, it's why I became a journalist. I put my hand up as high as I can to get to those jobs and do the extra stuff." Barr insisted her workload would be the same whether she was unmarried or without children.
Social media snubs and workplace dynamics
In April 2021, Armytage told The Daily Telegraph that she had not spoken to any of her former colleagues since leaving Sunrise a month earlier. "It's only been a few weeks so I've had a quiet time and haven't spoken to anyone," she said.
Questions were raised again in May 2021 when observers noticed Armytage did not follow Barr or Koch on Instagram, despite following several other Seven Network colleagues.
Armytage later downplayed the situation on her News Corp podcast, saying: "I don't think I unfo... I don't think anyone's following anyone in there."

In June 2021, Barr addressed their relationship in The Australian Women's Weekly, confirming they were not friends outside of work despite getting along well in the office.
"The truth is we didn't really see each other outside the office. We had vastly different lives, I guess," Barr told the publication. "We were in different places. She was hanging with her friends and I was spending time with my family. So, yes, we were in different places."

During a subsequent interview on The Kyle & Jackie O Show, Armytage declined to answer a question about the rumoured feud, saying: "It's better to be talked about than not."
Armytage, who was 44 at the time, later commented on social media regarding Barr's appointment as anchor: "Look... I'm out. Nat's wanted the job, forever... & she's finally got it." She urged Barr to "get on and enjoy it - and forget about me."
The history between the two presenters includes a July 2019 Sunrise Q&A segment where a viewer asked if the presenters were as nice as they appeared. Barr facetiously responded: "Nah, she's a b***h-faced moll," before both presenters laughed. Barr added: "No, she's not, I just love that term."
Industry commentary and Logie Awards appearance
Speaking to Daily Mail Australia on Monday, media commentator and former TV producer Rob McKnight of TV Blackbox noted that public interest in the presenters remains high.
"There is fascination about what went on behind the scenes of Sunrise," McKnight said. "Nat is a straight shooter and tells it like it is. She was asked about her friendship with Sam and she told the truth."
McKnight added: "Is anyone actually surprised the two didn't mingle outside of work? No, of course not: they are different people with different lives. Sam is probably right that Nat has always had her eye on the job but that doesn't mean she was actively chasing it. In the media everyone wants the biggest job and the highest profile. If you don't have an ego and ambition you just won't make it in this industry."
Despite persistent rumours, Armytage's latest red carpet remarks indicate she is keen to move past the narrative surrounding her former morning television role.

Armytage was among a host of Australian television stars attending the glittering ceremony, where the industry's biggest names gathered to celebrate the year's standout programs and personalities.
The blonde presenter made jaws drop on the red carpet in a disco-inspired jumpsuit by Carla Zampatti. The one-piece showed off cleavage with a neckline slashed down to just above her navel while flaunting her toned arms and slender waist.
She maintained the 1970s theme with a fluffy bag from Scanlan Theodore and a chunky gold cuff. She opted for a sultry hair and make-up look, adding volume to her blonde locks with extensions.
