Secret Lives of Mormon Wives returns to Hulu for season 5

Secret Lives of Mormon Wives returns for season five on Hulu as stars Taylor Frankie Paul and Whitney Leavitt face new personal drama.

Secret Lives of Mormon Wives returns to Hulu for season 5

Reality series Secret Lives of Mormon Wives premieres its fifth season on Hulu on Sept. 10 following months of dramatic personal turmoil among MomTok stars.

The five-episode season arrives six months after season four began airing, with cast member Mayci Neeley noting in a recent trailer that "there’s so much stuff the public doesn’t know." A sixth season of the reality show has also been confirmed.

The new season follows major disruptions for cast member Taylor Frankie Paul. She was set to star on season 22 of ABC's dating franchise The Bachelorette after season four ended with her leaving to film after spending the night with on-again, off-again boyfriend Dakota Mortensen. However, days before her season was scheduled to premiere in March 2026, TMZ published a video from a 2023 physical altercation between the couple.

Taylor was arrested in 2023 over the altercation and pleaded guilty in abeyance to aggravated assault, a charge recently reduced from a felony to a misdemeanor. ABC canceled her season of The Bachelorette, and she and Dakota subsequently filed dueling protective orders while entering a custody battle over their two-year-old son Ever, who was born in 2024. Taylor also shares nine-year-old daughter Indy and six-year-old son Ocean with ex-husband Tate Paul.

In March 2026, a spokesperson for the Draper City Police Department confirmed an open domestic assault investigation regarding a separate confrontation between the exes weeks earlier, telling People that "allegations have been made in both directions."

Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen Romance Breakdown

After a brief pause, filming for Secret Lives of Mormon Wives resumed in April 2026. In a preview sneak peek, Taylor revealed she became engaged to one of her Bachelorette suitors before reconnecting with Dakota upon returning home. The season five trailer shows her asking Dakota why he got a tattoo of her initials, while Basin Tiling founder Dakota has also begun dating guest star Shinia Powell.

The couple, who began dating in July 2022, previously split over infidelity allegations. During the season two premiere, Taylor stated that right after Ever was born, she learned Dakota was lying, recalling, "Right after Ever was born, Dakota and I were living together and in bliss with our new baby, and I was even considering engagement. And then I learned that he was lying this entire time." A woman named Jenna alleged she and Dakota were intimate, which Dakota denied in a September 2024 TikTok post, writing he "never cheated."

Taylor maintained on the series that Dakota blamed Jenna, telling a confessional, "No, it was him. He said he had just kissed her on the couch. No, he went on the couch, they hooked up on the couch, and then they went to the room and they hooked up." Dakota later apologized to Taylor during season four for hooking up with Jenna.

Whitney Leavitt Departure and Dancing With the Stars

Whitney Leavitt announced that season five will be her last on the show, having previously disclosed her exit during her Broadway run in May 2026. Last season, Whitney competed on reality competition Dancing With the Stars alongside castmate Jen Affleck. Tensions brewed between the pair, which trailer footage suggests remain unresolved.

Following her television dance competition, Whitney played Roxie Hart in Chicago on Broadway and is set to return to the stage in December as Sandra Dee in Just in Time. She is currently supporting her husband Conner Leavitt, with whom she shares six-year-old Sedona, four-year-old Liam, and 22-month-old Billy, as he competes on the new season of Dancing With the Stars.

Whitney and Conner married in 2016 when they were 23 and 22, respectively, and renewed their wedding vows in February 2026 for their 10th anniversary. Conner told Brides, "We got married really young. It felt like our wedding day, as much as it was for us, it really felt like it was for our families. So we really want to do something to make it ours, and this felt like a really fun way to do it."

The couple also addressed public rumors regarding Conner's sexuality. Speaking on the Off the Vine podcast in October 2024, Whitney said, "Do I need to put out a sex tape, or something? Like, trust me. We're good. Everything's fine." She explained that Conner had struggled with a porn addiction, leading to misinterpretations by friends on the show.

Jen Affleck Spinoff and Fourth Pregnancy

Castmate Jen Affleck is embarking on a new chapter with husband Zac Affleck, who is no relation to actor Ben Affleck despite frequent jokes. Married since 2019, the couple share four-year-old Nora, three-year-old Luca, and 14-month-old Penelope.

Despite lingering breakup rumors that began in season one after a dispute over Jen attending a Chippendales show in Las Vegas, the couple remain together. Jen told E! News in November 2025, "It can be tiring and draining, just because it gets old having to hear the same things. For me, I'm like, 'People will always talk and people will always have their opinions.' I think it is frustrating for him when people don't see what's happening behind closed doors and how much work and effort he's putting in."

The family has relocated to Orange County, California, where Jen is appearing on a Secret Lives of Mormon Wives spinoff series. In June 2026, Jen announced she is expecting baby number four.

Jessi Draper Divorce and New Romance

Season five will also explore the split between Jessi Draper and Jordan Ngatikaura after five years of marriage. The pair share six-year-old Jagger and three-year-old Jovi, alongside Jordan's 14-year-old daughter Peyton from a prior relationship.

Last season detailed their marital difficulties, including Jessi accusing Jordan of emotional abuse and admitting to an emotional affair and kiss with Vanderpump Villa star Marciano Brunette. Jordan told People in March 2026 that he takes "full accountability for the pain" caused during their marriage. In November 2025, Jessi told E! News they were trying to reconcile, saying, "We are back together. We're trying to work on it. Relationships are not perfect."

However, Jordan filed for divorce in March 2026, one week after season four aired. Jessi stated she was "blindsided" by the filing, accusing him of seeking headlines before they could inform their children together. Jessi later discussed the breakup on the Call Her Daddy podcast, kissed Chase McWhorter, and confirmed a relationship with Marciano Brunette after bringing him to the 2026 American Music Awards in May, where Marciano debuted a tattoo dedicated to her in August 2026.

Miranda McWhorter and Layla Taylor New Chapters

Costar Miranda McWhorter, who joined the show in season two and was involved in the MomTok soft swinging scandal, divorced Chase McWhorter in 2024. The exes co-parent children Brooks and Cohen. Speaking on the Weekly Trash podcast in August 2024, Miranda noted their split resulted from issues that predated the scandal, adding, "With co-parenting, you're always having to work on it. The thing is that if we got along perfectly all the time and it was just rainbows and butterflies, we probably wouldn't have gotten divorced."

In summer 2026, Miranda released her new song "FU4THAT" and debuted a romance with Kaleb Winterburn of TikTok group Montana Boyz.

Meanwhile, Layla Taylor, who divorced Clayton Wessel in 2023 and shares sons Oliver, five, and Maxwell, four, confirmed her split from Chase's brother Mason McWhorter in February 2026. Layla came out as bisexual in June 2026 and confirmed her relationship with Colorado content creator Kelsie Chesser. She signed with a modeling agency this year while documenting her recovery from plastic surgery complications and eating disorder treatment, sharing on Instagram that "healing from my ED has been so hard yet so incredibly rewarding."

Mikayla Matthews Health and Mayci Neeley Family Life

Mikayla Matthews continues to update viewers on her health journey following diagnoses of chronic illness, skin conditions, and childhood sexual abuse trauma. After discovering toxic mold in her home after season four, she traveled across the U.S. and Europe, including Germany, seeking treatment. Mikayla and husband Jace Terry, who share children Beckham, nine, Haven, seven, Tommie, four, and Lottie, 13 months, are reconciling following a temporary separation in season four over intimacy struggles.

Cast member Mayci Neeley manages businesses Babymama and Jonesy Jewelry while raising children Hudson, 10, Harlow, five, and Charli, 13 months, with husband Jacob Neeley. Mayci married Jacob in 2018 following the 2015 death of her boyfriend Arik Mack while pregnant with Hudson, detailing in her memoir Told You So how Jacob made her feel safe after loss.

Costar Demi Engemann remains married to Bret Engemann, whom she wed in 2021 following her divorce from Blake Corbin. The couple share a blended family including Demi's daughter Maude and Bret's sons Rome and Cole from his marriage to former Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Angie Harrington. Addressing private marital revelations aired on social media, Demi told Entertainment Tonight in December 2025 that the couple chose to "own it and have fun with it."
