Fans of Colombian pop superstar Shakira have launched an online campaign calling for the singer to be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of her long-standing philanthropic efforts.
The petition on the Change.org platform was initiated approximately 10 days ago and has already gathered more than 1,500 signatures from supporters worldwide.
Organisers of the campaign stated that the artist has devoted decades of her life to transforming communities through education, using her global fame and resources to create lasting social impact.
Central to the petition is the Pies Descalzos Foundation, a non-profit organisation that Shakira established in Colombia in 1997. The initiative will mark its 30th anniversary next year.
The foundation focuses on providing educational opportunities to disadvantaged children across Colombia. Beyond constructing school buildings, the organisation runs comprehensive programmes that deliver food, healthcare services, and emotional support to students and their families.
More than 4,000 low-income children have directly benefited from the foundation's initiatives, transforming whole communities and improving long-term prospects for families.

Shakira is currently preparing to arrive in Madrid, Spain, for a 12-night concert residency. The series of performances will serve as the finale for the European leg of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, a major concert tour that has placed her at the top of the Latin music industry.
