The track is closing in on 400 million streams, a total it has built in just over three months. For comparison, Shakira's 2010 hit "Waka Waka" has amassed 1,150 million streams over 15 years, according to the figures cited.
The official music video for "Dai Dai" has also drawn nearly 900 million views. The song features Nigerian rapper Burna Boy and was co-written with Ed Sheeran, whose collaboration with Shakira was also one of the highlights of recent stops on her world tour in New York, held around the football World Cup.
Ed Sheeran is a British singer-songwriter known for hits including "Shape of You" and "Perfect," and has collaborated with artists across pop, hip-hop and Latin music. Burna Boy is a Nigerian singer credited with helping bring Afrobeats to global mainstream audiences.
Madrid residency to close world tour
Shakira is set to take the stage on 18 September at a Madrid venue that will carry her name, beginning a 12-night European residency that will bring her "Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran" world tour to a close.
The Colombian singer, born in Barranquilla, has built her global career over more than three decades, with hits spanning Spanish and English-language pop, and remains one of the most prominent Latin American artists in the world.
