Duran Duran frontman Simon Le Bon, 67, and his model wife Yasmin, 61, have enjoyed a lavish family holiday aboard a luxury yacht in Sardinia alongside a circle of friends.
The lead singer clutched a beer during an inflatable boat ride as the group soaked up the sun off the coast of the Mediterranean island. The excursion followed a delicious lunch and a thrill-seeking inflatable ride, with both Simon and Yasmin appearing in great spirits throughout the day.
Simon looked casually cool for the outing in a pale blue polo shirt and swimshorts, later chatting to companions on the return boat ride to the yacht. Yasmin displayed her youthful appearance in a thin-strap black sundress as she enjoyed the summer weather.
The couple, who got married in 1985, share three daughters: Amber, 37, Saffron, 34, and Tallulah, 31. Yasmin was just 21 years old when she married the musician, who has remained by her side throughout their nearly four-decade marriage.
Musical Career and Mediterranean Outing
Simon Le Bon is best known as the lead vocalist of English rock and synth-pop band Duran Duran, which achieved massive success in the 1980s with iconic hit singles including Rio, Hungry Like the Wolf, and Girls on Film. The band, formed in Birmingham in 1978, became one of the leading figures of the New Romantic movement.
Sardinia, a large Italian island in the Mediterranean Sea famous for its turquoise waters and dramatic coastline, served as the backdrop for the couple's summer retreat. During the fun-filled outing, Simon struck up a peace sign for companions and later covered his face with a jumper to protect himself from the sun as he relaxed on the water.
Catwalk Career and Physical Toll
Yasmin Le Bon began her fashion career after being spotted by a model scout at the age of 17, subsequently signing with Models 1 Agency in London upon leaving school. She went on to become one of the top fashion models of the 1980s and 1990s, serving as the face of luxury fashion houses such as Versace, Chanel, and Dior, while appearing on the covers of major publications including Vogue, Cosmopolitan, and Harper's Bazaar.
However, Yasmin has previously admitted that her decades in the modeling industry left her suffering from chronic back pain and feeling very depressed. Speaking in an interview with Hello Magazine, a British celebrity and lifestyle publication, the star confessed she had "paid the price" physically for her career.
She recalled how photographers would frequently expect models to perform demanding physical feats, such as doing balletic leaps across studio sets while wearing stilettos, a practice she noted nobody would do today.
Reflecting on her health struggles, Yasmin shared the emotional weight of living with long-term discomfort. "I've had times in my life where it has become really, very depressing when I couldn't walk without pain, couldn't do anything and it's really hard," she told Hello Magazine. "I feel for anybody who's had back pain or is going through it. I think it's a mental thing as well, getting through the fact that maybe you're going to have to live with a certain amount of pain. You can do that, you just have to change the way you do everything."
Industry Pressures and Personal Boundaries
Alongside the physical demands of modeling, Yasmin opened up about the psychological pressures and environment of the fashion world. She explained that she constantly had to remain on her guard against predatory behaviour, relying on her strong personality and no-nonsense attitude to avoid uncomfortable situations, even during the early stages of her career.
She recounted how photographers would test models and push them psychologically to see if they were tough enough for a shoot. Acknowledging that a couple of situations in her past could have "gone differently", Yasmin explained: "I think after those two instances, anything that made me feel in any way out of control, I made sure never happened again.... I think you can't give an inch."
Throughout her fashion career, Yasmin had her rocker husband by her side. The pair tied the knot in 1985 when she was 21 years old, and they have remained together ever since while raising their three daughters.
