Spider-Man: New Day earned more than $1,150,000,000 at the global box office by August 5 after one week in release. Director Destin Daniel Cretton's sci-fi comic book blockbuster reached $1.2 billion total within its first week in theaters.
The film is the fourth Marvel universe picture starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker, following Homecoming, Far From Home, and No Way Home. It marks the ninth live-action Spider-Man feature overall, including Sam Raimi's trilogy and Marc Webb's dilogy.
In the story, Parker is left alone after losing contact with his loved ones, creating a personal narrative focused on an adult audience and the hardships of independent life. Marvel maintained public interest with crossovers and trailers.
Spider-Man audience demographics and box office
The core audience consists of teenagers and young adults aged 14 to 25. Viewers aged 26 to 44 who began reading comics or watching early movies starring Tobey Maguire also attend, alongside fathers with children aged 11 to 13.
Although the official rating is PG-13, younger teenagers frequently visit theaters with parents. Male viewers accounted for 61 percent of the audience, compared to 39 percent female viewers.
