Susanna Reid has revealed that posing in a plunging black one-piece swimsuit at O Beach Ibiza last month was a deliberate campaign to win votes for Good Morning Britain at the National Television Awards.
The presenter, 55, appeared on the red carpet on Tuesday and explained the strategy behind the photographs from her annual Ibiza trip, which showed her alongside the infamous beach club's scantily clad dancers holding placards reading "Vote GMB" for revellers.

Reid told Woman And Home magazine that she decided to visit the day club simply to gather votes for the Best Daytime Show category.
"I got the big guns out," Reid said. "There's something about being 55 and you just think, you know what? Just put your swimsuit on and go to a day club and get them to vote for GMB."

Reid added: "I feel like we've won because we're on the shortlist. It feel like a winner's enclosure".
Despite the voting campaign, Good Morning Britain lost the award to This Morning.
Reid had no intentions to stay up late and party because she had to front her television show in the morning. She told reporters she had to be awake at four in the morning to host Good Morning Britain.
"I've got to be up at four and Laura Tobin, our weather presenter, when I arrived at the studio this morning at 5:50am was: 'are you coming to the afterparty at the NTAs?'," Reid said.

Instagram reaction
The Ibiza swimsuit photographs promptly gained 10,000 likes after Reid shared them on Instagram.
Following the awards ceremony, Reid used the platform to congratulate the This Morning team, naming Ben, Cat, Sian, Alison and Dermot, and the whole gang.
"WINNERS! Not us, the trophy went to @thismorning," Reid wrote. "But it felt like winning to be shortlisted by YOU our amazing viewers @gmb."

Reid also congratulated Alan Carr, writing "@chattyman", on a special win. She added: "We all love what we do and we love that you love it too. See you at 6am tomorrow, and Ed will be able to shave off his goatee!!"
Holiday traditions
During the wild day in Ibiza, Reid enjoyed Paloma cocktails, made with tequila and grapefruit, alongside her sons Sam, 24, Finn, 21, and Jack, 20.
She told The Mirror that she generally does not drink alcohol, but allows herself one day to have a steady drink at O Beach.
"So I have a drink at O Beach, but very, very steady. I don't go mad," she said.
"I loved it because I'm 55 years old, and if you're not going to go out and enjoy yourself in a swimsuit, what are you doing in Ibiza at 55? It was great fun," Reid said.
The health-conscious star leaves the beach club around 8pm, while her sons stay out clubbing into the early hours. Reid previously noted her summer trips to Ibiza are special, saying: "It was amazing to really enjoy it with my boys now they are old enough to go clubbing."
Despite being on holiday, Reid maintains her early schedule, waking up for a spot of exercise and a sunrise walk on the beach.
