Taylor Swift is "happier than ever" since marrying Travis Kelce and has settled into a "blissful" married life, a friend has told the Daily Mail, offering rare details of the couple's world since their star-studded Madison Square Garden wedding last month.
"Taylor said she was happier than ever now that she is Mrs Kelce and says their married life has been blissful so far," a source told the Daily Mail. "She is a blissed-out wife who is focusing on the simple things in life."
The newlyweds have largely disappeared from public view since the wedding, keeping details of their new life as husband and wife under wraps. According to the source, Swift has been spending her days cooking and baking for Kelce, experimenting with Italian dishes and learning bits of the Italian language while drinking white wine.
"She has also been with her cats and Travis' dog, they love their fur children, and are nesting with them," the source said. "She said they all get along because they got the dog as a tiny puppy and the cats took to the dog, so no fights." The couple share three cats, Meredith Grey, Olivia Benson and Benjamin Button, and Kelce's white Samoyed.
Swift and Kelce, both 36, have also been working out together every day, mixing power walks, swimming and weight lifting, the source said. Kelce has been playing golf and teaching Swift the game, which he loves. Swift also hand-wrote thank you cards to wedding guests who gave gifts, a gesture the source called "a sweet, old-fashioned gesture."
The couple's only public appearance since the wedding came on July 10, when they attended the wedding of Kelce's Kansas City Chiefs teammate JuJu Smith-Schuster in Dana Point, California, interrupting a honeymoon that reportedly began at the Yellowstone Club in Big Sky, Montana. Two days later, Kelce was seen in Palm Beach, Florida, before returning to training in Miami. He has been at Chiefs training camp at Missouri Western State University in St Joseph, Missouri, since July 29.
Building a home in Kansas City
With Kelce back at camp, the couple are turning his $17 million Kansas City mansion into their marital home. "They don't want it to feel like it's Travis's house that Taylor moved into," a second source told the Daily Mail. "They want a place that's theirs from day one."
The source said the pair have no interest in maintaining separate lives during football season. "This is their fresh start. They're not building Taylor's life or Travis's life anymore. They're building one life - together," the source said. "They've done the long-distance thing, and it was hard. Now they're married, Taylor's going to be where Travis is. That's home."
"She's not tied to New York or LA," the source added. "They want to wake up together, have dinner together and build a real home - not just squeeze in visits between schedules."
Swift has already built a roster of Kansas City favorites, including 1587 Prime, the steakhouse Kelce co-owns with Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, which features a Swift-inspired cocktail called Alchemy, and Prime Social, the rooftop lounge where Kelce hosted their first post-game after-party together. She has also been spotted in the curtained private dining room of the Argentine restaurant Piropos and is said to have ordered the glazed pecan cinnamon rolls at Rye after dining with other Chiefs players' wives and girlfriends.
Eyeing a move to Montecito
Despite settling in Kansas City, the couple are reportedly browsing property listings elsewhere. The first source said Swift and Kelce "think Montecito might be a nice place to settle down," adding, "They love how private it is and secluded." The coastal California town is already home to celebrities including Oprah Winfrey and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
A separate insider said the couple will keep Swift's Tribeca home in New York City, but that Kelce wants to be near Hollywood so he can pursue acting and TV hosting opportunities once he retires from football. "Travis loves being on camera, he likes performing, so that is the goal, to work on screen," the source said.
Kelce's season and Swift's new music
Kelce is returning for his 14th season with the Chiefs. The team opens preseason against the Los Angeles Rams at Arrowhead Stadium on August 15, followed by games against the Buccaneers on August 22 and the Seattle Seahawks on August 28. Kansas City hosts the Denver Broncos on September 14 for its first regular season game.
Swift, meanwhile, is working on new music. "Taylor has been creating new music, she said she is very inspired these days thanks to her husband, and is writing love songs for a new album and tour. She has been bouncing ideas off the Haim sisters," the first source said. Swift has also spoken with musician Carly Simon about possibly working together, calling Simon after learning of her Parkinson's disease diagnosis and sending her a large bouquet of flowers.
The source said Swift is savoring small moments as a newlywed. "Swift said she loves calling Travis 'my husband' or 'my hubby,'" the source said. "She shared it is much better than saying 'fiancee' or 'boyfriend.' She was giddy when talking about it. She said she melts when Travis introduces her as 'my wife.'" The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Swift and Kelce for comment.
