Telecinco will premiere the Franco-Belgian romantic comedy series Una receta para dos on August 8 at 22:00 hours. The main channel of Mediaset is adding the show to its schedule to replace Hay una cosa que te quiero decir. The network has also added other series to its lineup, including Ella, maldita alma, Sandokán, and Romi.
The narrative of the romantic comedy centers on the contrast between its two lead characters. Benjamin Mercier is a man of simple routines who runs his family bakery. Louise Meyer is a sought-after international model who lives at a hectic pace between night flights and haute couture fashion shows.
The pair collide by chance during a casual encounter lasting just a minute and a half in a restaurant bathroom. That brief moment coincides with a critical event when Benjamin's girlfriend, Vanessa, decides to propose marriage to him in front of the other diners.
From that evening on, the baker's life is turned upside down. The situation triggers a web of romantic entanglements conditioned by prejudice and differences in social standing, while drawing in his family as they face their own financial and internal difficulties.
Show format and episode count
Unlike the original production from which it originates, the Israeli series The Baker and the Beauty, which ran for three seasons and 24 episodes, or its 2020 American remake of nine episodes, this version opts for a more condensed narrative. The adaptation previously aired on the French channel TF1 and the Belgian channel La Une.
Una receta para dos consists of a single season divided into four episodes of about 50 minutes each. Original broadcast network TF1 has not confirmed whether the project will have additional installments following the end of its run in mid-February.
Cast and Eurovision connection
Franco-Israeli artist Amir Haddad stars in the main role alongside actress Ludmilla von Claer. Haddad rose to public attention after competing on The Voice and representing France in the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest with the song J'ai Cherché, which took sixth place.
The main cast is completed by prominent figures from the French-speaking entertainment industry. Supporting roles are played by Lionnel Astier, Mathilda May, Gary Mihaileanu, Sarah Stern, Mitty Hazanavicius, Xavier Robic, Lisa Do Couto Teixeira, and Lily Nambininsoa.
