HBO Max has released the first trailer and confirmed a November 2 release date for the fourth season of historical drama The Gilded Age.
The new season will consist of eight episodes. The announcement follows a third season finale that left several central characters in delicate situations across late 19th-century New York.
High Society Power Struggles in New York
The fourth season opens with Bertha Russell established as one of the most influential figures in high society. However, her rapid rise comes at a price for both her and her family.
Meanwhile, Agnes van Rhijn attempts to take advantage of the changing circumstances to recover part of the social standing she lost. Their renewed rivalry sets up another power struggle between two of the prominent leading ladies of the show.
New Paths and Personal Relationships
Other plot lines focus on younger characters seeking their own direction amidst shifting social expectations. Marian begins searching for her own path, while her relationship with Larry Russell is among several couples that could take a step forward in the new episodes.
At the same time, Peggy faces a very different challenge as she attempts to gain acceptance from the parents of her future husband.

Created by Julian Fellowes, The Gilded Age premiered in 2022. Over three seasons, the series has chronicled the clash between old fortunes and the new rich as powerful families in late 19th-century New York fight to maintain or conquer their place in society.
Fellowes is also the creator of the acclaimed British period drama Downton Abbey, which remains available across multiple streaming services, as well as Belgravia on SkyShowtime.
The Gilded Age continues as an exclusive title on HBO Max. The series joins a wide lineup of period dramas on streaming platforms, including Netflix titles such as Bridgerton, The Empress, and The Crown, along with Apple TV period drama The Buccaneers.
