Butterflies tears : What is it about ?
Series Butterflies tears is set in the Dominican Republic in 1960. The country is in crisis, the fault of the tyranny of its leader Rafael Leónidas Trujillo, true despot that tries to control every particle of the territory. A revolutionary movement tried in vain to oppose his dictatorship. Among the young people determined to put an end to all this, we discover the activist Minerva Mirabal, as well as two of her sisters. The latter are determined to do everything to overthrow the self-proclaimed leader.
At the creation of this historical series, Juan Pablo Buscarini. The latter offers here a portrait of women heartbreaking, resulting in news that brings to light more than ever violence against women. The drama took place in the city of Puerto Plata. For the record, the title of the series refers directly to its heroines, who bore the nickname “Las Mariposas”, in other words: the butterflies.

It turns out that Minerva Mirabal has well and truly existed. Born in 1926, she showed an uncommon liveliness from an early age. She and her sisters grew up under the dictatorship of Rafael Leónidas Trujillo. During these dark times, Minerva was one of the first women to get a law degree. It approaches the revolutionary movement and becomes an important figure. His involvement earned him several arrests by the intelligence services. Minerva Mirabal, like her sisters, will be, like the announcement frontally Butterflies tears, murdered at the age of thirty-four. The young woman leaves behind her husband and three children, one of whom was born a few months before her murder.
Trujillo’s envoys set a trap for the woman who opposes the regime, while she is with two of her sisters. Then they murder the three women with machetes, one display of unprecedented violence. This heinous crime has caused a real revolt by the population. This tragic event will give rise to an international day. In the Dominican Republic, the Mirabal sisters register as true figures of the Resistance. A banknote with the effigy of the three women is, as a tributebeen around since 2007. In the role of brave Minervawe find the actress Sandy Hernandez (The call). Her sisters, Patria and Maria Tereza, are played respectively by Alina Robert (Make love great again) and Camila Issa (It scares me !). Opposite them, Luis Alberto Garcia plays the despot who tyrannizes the country.
