In a recent interview, Vikings creator and producer Michael Hirst revealed that he is already working on a sequel to the main plot.

series fans Vikings met the end of history Bjorn Lothbrokthe firstborn of the great ragnarin the last season of the plot, in 2020. Three years later, the creator of the saga, Michael Hirstrevealed that he is thinking about creating a sequel to the narrative.

The first theories about a sequence of Vikings social networks appeared, mainly after the spin-off Vikings: Valhalla, from Netflix. This is because, despite being set in the same universe, the derivative series takes place 100 years after the original and does not bring the narratives already known and acclaimed by the public, leaving a nostalgic feeling.

That way, Hirst revealed, in a recent press conference, that he is already working on a direct sequel to the events of Vikings. The new production, in this sense, should have some characters already known by the public.

“We’ve talked and continue to talk about it. Obviously, Vikings has a worldwide fan base that is huge. I get messages from places like Mongolia from people who watch the show. So I obviously would love to do it again.”

Hirsthowever, wants to create a plot that makes sense in the universe of Vikings. “I wouldn’t want to do this just for the sake of it. It would have to be something with a very strong story, very solid, with a lot of meaning. That would really be the only way I would want to return to the screen with Vikings”, pointed out the creator.

Right away, Michael he also said he believed that the Vikings universe has fans around the world because it showed a more human side of figures constantly linked to violence. “If we only think of Vikings, maybe we think of brutality, of carnage, of dark forces that steal property and rape women.”

“But I researched Viking societies and found that they could own their property, divorce their partners. And nobody knew about it. Nobody knew they were very democratic, for example. So I looked at them as human beings, not as emblems of evil and destruction. But like us, who are capable of loving”, he concluded Hirst.
