The title and new details of the tenth (and last?) Quentin Tarantino film have been revealed

Quentin Tarantino now seems to be launched towards what should be the last work of his prestigious career. Although officiality is still missing, the name of the script that the legendary director will work on seems to have finally surfaced.

The script is almost finished and the title is out The Film Critic. Also according to sources close to the director, it seems that he intends to start shooting the film this fall. No further details have been revealed at this time, but more than one hint would suggest that the story may center around Pauline Kaelone of the most influential film critics of all time, as well as an essayist and writer, who passed away in 2001 from causes related to Parkinson’s.

In the late ’70s Kael worked as a consultant at Paramount, a timing that seems more than pure coincidence in the setting of a script. After all, Tarantino never hid his deep respect for critics, an element that makes more than likely the presence of his figure.

So far the script is not in the hands of any studio, but according to sources involved that may change shortly. The favorite studio seems to be Sony, in light of the close relationship between the director of pulp fiction and CEO of major label Tom Rothman. There’s also something to consider in how Sony itself distributed the director’s latest work in 2019, Once upon a time in Hollywood.

Tarantino always said that he would make 10 films, then devote himself to novels and documentaries, and retire at the age of 60. To date, there are 10 titles in his filmography, and the director will turn 60 in end of the month Tarantino has previously explained how filmmakers, as they age, lose touch with their vision.

In fact, in a 2012 interview, the director declared: “In a while I will stop. Directors do not improve over time, generally the least successful films in the filmography are the last four. I care too much about me, one film can include all three. I don’t like the bad nonsense comedies that have my name on them, the movies that make people think, ‘Oh, he only looks 20. When a director becomes obsolete it is not good.

Let’s see if Quentin Tarantino lives up to his promises, meanwhile the feverish wait has begun to find out what his latest movie looks like.
