The International Union of Cinematographers elects a new president –

First Assistant Camera Baird B. Stepto Senior was elected national president of the International Guild of Cinematographers (IATSE Local 600), becoming the first Black Guild member to be elected to the position.

He replaced cinematographer John Lindley, who had just finished his term and decided not to run again.

Election results are considered in advance until the election commission report is analyzed and adopted by the National Executive Council at its next meeting on 18-19 June.

An independent company contracted to conduct electronic elections reported that, according to the estimated results, about 32.4% of eligible voters voted. The results of the supposed vote count for the presidency were: Beirut b. Stepto son, 1106; Jaime Silverstein, 909; Diana Farrington, 416; And Casey Show 121, voice.

The members also elected Chris Silano as their New York-based National Leader; Deborah Lippmann, as first national vice president, based in the Central Region; And Mark Weingartner, as second national vice president, based in Southern California. The current Stephen Wong was re-elected Secretary General of Ghana, based in Los Angeles. Patrick Quinn was elected Deputy Secretary of the Treasury, based in New York, and Betsy Pills was elected National Staff Sergeant, based in the Midwest.
