Ibiza: Christian Clavier, Joey Starr and Mathilde Seigner on the run
Ibiza is a French comedy film directed by Arnaud Lemort released in 2019. The film follows Philippe (Christian Clavier) and Carole (Mathilde Seigner), two recently divorced singles who have just met. Completely dependent on Carole, Philippe is ready to do anything to get his two teenage sons into his pocket. He thus proposes a pact to his partner’s eldest son: if he obtains his high school diploma, it is he who will choose the place for the summer holidays. But when the latter chooses Ibiza, it is a culture shock for Philippe, more accustomed to peaceful stays in the Baie de Somme…
The rest of the cast includes Joey Starr, Frédérique Bel and Olivier Marchal.
If the film was not a great success when it was released, it has been enjoying a second life on Netflix for several days, where it is classified in the first 10 of the most watched programs on the platform in France.

Originally
After the release of his second film, depression and friends in 2012, director Arnaud Lemort struggled to bring his film projects to fruition. The cruel law of the film market. However, after several failed projects, the film Ibiza manages to mount. The director returned to the origins of the feature film:
The origin of the film is very surprising. I had started writing a comedy about a family who left for Auvergne to bring back the body of a deceased aunt in a refrigerated truck! Then I met Mathieu and Thomas Verhaeghe, my future producers, who were casting directors at the time for a script they had been developing. We had good contact, Thomas called me back to consider a collaboration and I told him about my idea of Auvergne. He found the principle interesting but he was a little less enthusiastic about the corpse idea. So I reworked my idea while keeping the concept of family comedy and Ibiza came to mind, where I had already been on holiday several times. It was then that I managed to really wrap everything up and it was off to this somewhat classic family leaving for this “island of all dangers” for an eventful stay…

Christian Clavier has chosen JoeyStarr!
As nightclub boss Frankie, JoeyStarr was cast. And this casting idea didn’t come from the director or the producers, but from Christian Clavier:
For the role of Frankie, we were searching for the truth and after considering several names, Christian created us
note that in people’s imagination Ibiza was the party, the night, a slightly sulphurous side and that JoeyStarr was perhaps an interesting song… I never thought of associating them both but in the end it’s totally believable!
