I love and miss Sam, and it’s absolutely true that we all thought we were going to make a huge turnip before the first screenings. I was clearly wrong and the movie completely changed my life. It was the start of a great friendship with Richard Curtis, and I’ve always had the utmost respect for Mike Newell, who taught me things for which I’m grateful today.
