Having brought together more than three million viewers in France, the feature film by Michel Hazanavicius (OSS 117: Cairo, a den of spies, Cut!) won six Césars in 2012, including Best Picture, and five Oscars, including one for best actor. The artist therefore marks an international consecration for Jean Dujardin, who then introduces himself Monuments of men by George Clooney and made a brief appearance in The Wolf of Wall Street by Martin Scorsese.

Everyone has their priorities…

The actor then returned to Francophone productions, notably reuniting with Brice from Nice and Hubert Bonisseur from La Bath. In an interview with Parisian for the promotion of On dark pathsJean Dujardin explained ithe doesn’t enjoy filming in Englishand that the famous “American dream” was not really his:

The Oscar has only one use, it’s over there, a passport to Hollywood. My only mistake is not taking advantage of it. Here it is neither more nor less than a statuette on a shelf. I’m proud of it, but it doesn’t help much.

I don’t like playing in English. We don’t even offer you great things. You have to be available within three weeks, they want you right away and for roles that don’t give me great emotions. (…) I don’t feel like it, and I assure you it’s not laziness. I don’t think I’m credible in English.

If the actor apparently hasn’t fantasized about post-Oscars, it’s also because of him he could immediately count on his children not to get big head. Upon his return to Paris after the ceremony, his sons Jules and Simon brought him back to reality very quickly, as revealed by Anne-Elisabeth Lemoine on the set of It’s up to you this Monday, March 20, 2023 addressing his guest:

Place the figurine on the lunch table, ask your two teenagers what they think about it and their answer immediately calms you down.

His children would actually throw him:

We are hungry !

The actor humorously commented:

It was coherent, it was morning… Yes, they are good memories.
