Bad Bunny opened up details about her first kiss on camera – with a man, for the movie cassander. The 29-year-old musician will make his acting debut in the feature film about the gay Mexican wrestler Saul Armendáriz. On stage, he exchanges a kiss with Gael Garcia Bernal.

“When you’re acting, you’re playing someone you’re not. So when they asked me to do that, I said, ‘Yes, I’m here for whatever you need.’ I think it was really cool, I didn’t feel uncomfortable,” said Bad Bunny.

Despite treating the issue professionally, the singer joked that the debut kiss with a man was a “penalty” for getting involved with so many women throughout his life. The interview was given to the magazine Teamwhich published its first cover in Spanish for the edition with Bunny.

This isn’t the first time Bad Bunny has defied the parameters of masculinity. In 2020, he appeared dressed as a drag queen for the video “Yo Perreo Sola”. And, last August, he kissed a male dancer during his performance at MTV Music Awards.

The film starring Bad Bunny will tell the story of Saúl Armendáriz was the first openly gay wrestler in Mexico’s Lucha Libre sport. He began his career under the code name of Mister Roman, later as Baby Sharon and then as Cassandro. Armendáriz became a sociocultural icon for going against the sexist standards of Lucha Libre sport in Mexico and made history for the LGBTQIA+ community.

“As a filmmaker, my own life experience leads me to tell inspiring stories about the outcast and to raise the voices of people we don’t normally see on screen. The true story of Cassandro, Saúl Armendáriz, was one I knew I wanted to tell from the moment I met him. I look forward to being able to bring Saúl’s story to a wide audience”, said director Roger Ross Williams exclusively for the deadline.

The film was shown on sundance festival and there is no prediction of debut in the commercial circuit.
