Buenos Aires is trying to attract international products with new cash discount projects for films shot in a Latin American city.
BA Produção Internacional was created by the Ministry of Culture of Buenos Aires and offers Reimbursement of 20 percent of expenses up to a maximum of $600,000 ($75 million pesos) per project. The entire fund consists of US$4 million (US$491 million pesos).
There will be discounts for total or partial filming in the Argentine capital Pre-production, production and/or post-production. Products that can be feature films or feature film series must have been filmed for at least four days in Buenos Aires and spend at least US$660,000 (US$80 million) to apply for a 20% cash discount.
In identifying production incentives, the ministry noted that 70% of Argentine studio companies are located in the city and offer established manufacturing infrastructure.

Buenos Aires will evaluate the products based on their potential impact on the “national audiovisual industry and related industries, taking into account the level of qualification of job creation and its relationship with the audiovisual chain”.
