Avatars : long-awaited sequels
While blockbuster cinema has largely been dominated by superhero films since the early 2000s, one saga is resisting the invader: Avatars. Indeed, since 2009, the first part became the highest-grossing film in the history of cinema. Admittedly, Marvel tried to break this record avengers ending But Avatars it sits at the top of the box office.
13 years later, the Na’vi are back on the big screen. And despite the long wait, the audience was still there with 2.3 billion in worldwide receipts. If these scores are lower than those ofAvatars and’avengers ending, Avatar: The stream it still took the bronze medal in the ranking of the highest grossing in the world. Not to mention that this sequel, directed once again by James Cameron, was released in an era that is slowly recovering from the Covid-19 pandemic, and in which audiences go to the cinema much less than before.

What does the future of this saga hold for us now? This remains to be followed. However, an actress who starred in the 2009 film has been announced which will not be part of the next films Avatars.
No resurrection for me, please
Michelle Rodriguez was one of the notable supporting roles in the former Avatars. As daredevil pilot Trudy Chacon, she cut a fine figure in a role she’d excelled at for years: that of badass. Fighting alongside Jake Sully and the Na’Vi, he had sadly lost his life during the final battle.
When we know that the actress has already returned from the dead in other franchises (hello resident Evil AND Fast & Furious), we think this could be the same case for sequences ofAvatars. Especially compared to other actors who have seen their characters lose their lives in the first part he returned in another form (Hi Stephen Lang and Sigourney Weaver!).
Unfortunately for fans of the actress, the latter revealed during an interview with Vanity Fair that there was no question for her to get her back. Schedule conflict? Salary stamp problem? Nothing special! True to her authentic personality, the actress gave a much more honest reason:
When I saw James Cameron recently, he was like, ‘What if Michelle comes back? A lot of other characters came back in 2.’ But I replied: “You can’t do it, I died a martyr”. I came back resident Evil when I shouldn’t have. I came back machete when it wasn’t expected. I found Letty’s role in Fast & Furiouswhen it was supposed to end. You can’t do it all the time, that would be excessive!
Not being able to return to the saga Avatars, Michelle Rodriguez will be in theaters soon. Indeed, she is present in Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, in theaters April 12, 2023.
