Canal+’s new crime series is on its way
Since the airing of the last season ofgears in 2020, we were waiting to see what Canal+ would offer as a new original crime series. And finally we will be able to find out, since its new Original Creation BIS will start broadcasting on April 24, 2023. As the title indicates, it will be the newspaper of the Versailles BIS group, specializing in crackdown on organized crimewhen they are not required by other services to intervene in different situations.

Indeed, these elite police officers, who took the spotlight during the terrible evening of November 13, 2015 and their intervention at the Bataclan, are trained to intervene very quickly and in different ways. It is this particular expertise that the writer-director Jérémie Guez wanted to show and, to do so, he can count on a high-class cast.
A very solid cast for BIS
Among the actors and actresses who have donned the uniform is Sofiane Khammes who plays Saïd, a former military intelligence officer who finds himself head of the BRI group in Versailles. Above him, she has to answer to Ferracci (Emmanuelle Devos) as she handles the complicated legacy of former group boss, Patrick (Bruno Todeschini).
Saïd can count on a close-knit team, made up of the powerful Julien (Waël Sersoub), the efficient and solitary Vanessa (Ophélie Bau) and the discreet Badri (Rabah Nait Oufella). They will have to welcome a newcomer, directly from the narcotics brigade, the enterprising and energetic Socrates (Théo Christine).

In front of them are experienced criminals. Among them are a gypsy boss, Éric Perez (Vincent Elbaz), his daughter Nina (Nina Meurisse), or a determined robber, Rayan (Sami Outalbali), and a dangerous henchman with a cold charisma, Jean Khodja (Hugo Dillon).
A history of generations
This BRI team is young and has to deal with the retirement of Patrick and the arrival of Saïd. A situation that will shake their certainties and bring to light some secrets. By telling this story, Jérémie Guez wishes to propose a fresh look at the crime drama genre. Then he explains, as part of the promotion of BIS :
BRI was born from the desire to renew the codes of the traditional “policewoman” series by paying homage to it. Strongly inspired by classic and cult police figures, I let myself be lulled, like all of us, by the image of the inspector with his face a little corroded by alcohol or tobacco, gruff but captivating, but I wanted to stage the passage of this cult representation to a new generation.
The intention was also to rethink the contrast between cops and thugs. Here the mafiosi can be the best allies of the BRI and vice versa. It is above all the conflict that arises within the group that I propose to represent. Transmission, inheritance, the passage from one generation to another is never easy.
The eight episodes of BRI, each approximately 50 minutes long, show how these people organize their shadowing, investigations, interventions and harsh arrests. While also experiencing more intimate dramas. Are they made for this job? Am I on the “good” side? Can they trust each other? Answers from April 24, 2023.
