A man accused of assaulting comedian Dave Chapelle on stage was also accused of trying to kill a partner months ago, officials said Thursday.
Isaiah Lee, 23, pleaded not guilty to stabbing in December during an altercation at a Los Angeles transitional housing center, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said.
Prosecutors said publishing the Chapelle incident made it easier to identify and arrest Lee in an earlier attack.
A message left at the county ombudsman’s office seeking comment from Lee’s attorney was not immediately returned.
Lee was arrested on May 3 after allegedly running across the stage and confronting Chapel during a booth at the Hollywood Bowl.
Police said they posted a photo of the gun with a copy of a pistol with a large blade bent like a pocketknife.
Chapelle was unharmed and ended the show, which was part of the “Netflix Is a Joke” comedy festival.
Lee pleaded not guilty to charges of assault, possession of a deadly weapon with intent to assault, and two counts of participating in a public event. He remains in prison after the attack.
