Entertainment Barry embraces insanity in season 4 – and proves it’s one of the best series [REVIEW]Barry’s fourth and final season has all eight episodes directed by Bill Hader

Fourth and final season of Barry has all eight episodes directed by Bill Hader

Created by Alec Berg It is Bill Hader, barry always had timid exhibitions and never drew so much attention from the general public, even with nominations for important awards of hollywoodand never had expressive numbers of audience, as The Last of Us or House of the Dragon. This Sunday, the 16th, production begins the fourth and final season.

In the last phase, the series manages to forward the arcs of each prominent character in a satisfactory way. With eight episodes, all directed by Hader, HBO provided seven of them for Rolling Stone Brazil perform this review no spoilers.

the plot of barry accompanies the title character (played by Bill Hader), who is an extremely lethal killer who is quite unhappy and traumatized in life. However, he decides to change careers and try to become a professional actor when he learns about the course of Gene Cousineau (Henry Winkler). The cast also has Stephen Root (Monroe Fuches), Sarah Goldberg (Sally Reed) It is Anthony Carrigan (NoHo Hank).

Over the seven episodes, the series paints a surrealist portrait of the world, with some very abnormal situations, while making some criticisms and notes about problems we are currently experiencing, such as mental health, cancellation culture, greed and much more.

After the massively consequential events of Season 3, not a single character is left with a clear or clear conscience in Year 4 – and you never know who’s going to lose their mind first. This element is quite interesting to observe and brings unpredictability of events to the viewer.

The dynamic of the fourth season is quite different from the rest of the series, with a very frenetic pace and several changes happening at the same time. For example, it’s common to see characters change their minds about who is an enemy and who should be killed or not.

barry transits a lot between drama and comedy, the latter being a specialty of Bill Haderwho participated for a long time in the Saturday Night Live (SNL). The fourth season of the series maintains this duality very well, with hilarious moments that can make you cry with sadness at any moment. It is worth highlighting the absurd and unreal moments that the series managed to do very well throughout its existence.

As usual, the production delivers a lot in terms of performances (and it’s a shame that they are always snubbed at awards and are only recommended), especially when it comes to Hader, Henry Winkler, Sarah Goldberg It is Anthony Carrigan. A name that impressed was Stephen Root, who did his best work on the series in season four. Also, the main characters don’t disappoint and have satisfying arcs.

The technical aspect of barry also remains impeccable as always, and the work of Bill Hader at directing surpasses many big-budget films by hollywood at the moment. Not only with the actors’ expressions, the story is also very well told through the sets, framing and photography.

Even with little space between the public, media and awards wins, barry managed to finish the very interesting story, which entertains, moves and makes you laugh. Embracing its unique insanity (in the best possible sense of the word), the series shows why it is one of the best series, not only in recent times, but in history.
