Forty years later, four-time NBA champion Tony Parker flew from his home in Lyon to Cannes in less than 24 hours on Thursday. There was no time for red carpets or showings, at one point the league’s MVP had a special focus from late morning to noon: popularizing a new brand of powdered wellness drink.
the hollywood reporter Stuck in the Parker JW Marriott in Natalie Dubois’s exclusive DPA Fur Gift Salon. Below, Parker talks about his investment portfolio, life after the NBA, and why he was walking the red carpet in Cannes with his ex-wife, Eva Longoria.
What do you do with the skin?
I’m here for a healthy drink called Smart Good Things, which we published in April in all pharmacies in France. I met the CEO eight months ago and when he told me about this and how we would put 25% of all money aside to help children, women and the cause. [the elderly]I said, I went in. Four doctors, very famous in France, created the drink after 13 years of research. I wanted to join not only as an ambassador, but also to invest my own money and help me with marketing and other plans because our goal after launching in France is to get to the US in October or November.
I’m sure you will have many opportunities. Why are you so obsessed with this?
Because of the charitable aspect, the fact that we give 25% of the profits back to life-changing causes. Also, the fact that I have two children, aged eight and six. So now I’m paying more attention [diet and nutrition]And these drinks are sugar free. People also pay more attention to health and what we eat and drink. [Wellness] it’s the future.
How is it to be in the skin? I don’t think you can walk down the street…
I feel at home. I love people, it’s wonderful and it’s part of the case, so I’m not against it. I’ve been to the skin many times and it’s always nice to see people and feel energized, especially now that COVID-19 is maskless. You see that everyone is happy and having fun.
After being here many times, what are your favorite skin memories?
When I walked the red carpet with Eva [Longoria]. This must be my main memory since I first came here with him and he was the L’Oreal ambassador. When you’re from France, you always hear about red carpet skin, but I never thought I’d be here, especially as a basketball player who wins the NBA championship. So walking the rug with him was an amazing moment and a reminder of my favorite skin.
Speaking of the NBA, how do you see life after the league?
I love it. I did everything I wanted to achieve. I was very happy to play with a great team, a great coach and great teammates. I won many championships. When the time came, he was ready for the next chapter in life. I’m busy with a lot of different things. We’re talking about Smart Good Things here, but I have my own gym, I have two basketball teams, one for men and one for women. I have my horse and last week we won one of the most important races in the world.
Where was the race?
Called the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches, it was an Emirates-sponsored Longchamp in Paris. I’ve only been in this world for a year and a half and we’ve won – it’s crazy. We weren’t favorites. Everything I do now, I love it. I also have investments in roses and champagne and that’s what I really wanted to do after my basketball career. I’m busy.
Are you making more money now than in the NBA?
Right now I’m getting paid less, but (I have) the opportunity that if everything goes according to plan and everything happens in the next three to five years, I can do more than I did in the NBA.
Let’s get back to health. You look great. Are you still with your NBA training?
Oh, I’m in shape. I love working out. It’s hard for me not to. I know a lot of athletes who get so good after a game, but I’m the kind of person I used to be.
you look the same
I am myself. I like to exercise more because my body doesn’t hurt. When you play, you have to get up and everything hurts. Now I go to the gym and nothing hurts. I feel great, I feel healthy and it all makes me happy.
