The MonsterVerse continues
In 2014, the Legendary studio launched the MonsterVerse with Godzilla. The Kaijū returns five years later in Godzilla II: the king of monstersafter letting his formidable opponent show up in 2017 with Kong: Skull Island. The two titans then collide Godzilla vs. Kongreleased in 2021.
At the end of this blockbuster, these two monsters emblematic of the history of the seventh art each leave their side after burying the hatchet. Ahead of the first teaser and the title, they will have to reunite in the next installment of the MonsterVerse.
Godzilla and Kong face a new enemy
Legendary just revealed a preview of Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. In these images, a new enemy sits atop many bones. This “unknown and colossal threat”, according to the official synopsis, will “jeopardize” the existence of the titans as well as that of humanity. The skulls of Godzilla and Kong end up appearing at the end of the teaser. At the moment, the identity of what appears to be an ape has not been revealed, but some argue that it could be the son of the giant gorilla or one of its ancestors.
Director of Godzilla vs. Kong, Adam Wingard is expected to be at the helm of this new feature film. In the casting we should find Rebecca Hall, Dan Stevens, Brian Tyree Henry, Rachel House and Fala Chen. In the United States, the release date of Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is fixed at March 15, 2024. While waiting to find out more, find the teaser at the top of the article.
