Lupine: Netflix reveals date for part 3

Lupine : an emblematic character

Created in 1874 by Maurice Leblanc, Arsène Lupine was first the hero of a story published in the magazine I know everything titled: The arrest of Arsene Lupin. With the growing success of the character, the author released a collection of short stories that same year: Arsène Lupin, gentleman burglar. In all, Maurice Leblanc will publish 18 novels, 39 short stories and 5 plays around his character, until his death in 1941.

Arsène Lupine then had a career in the seventh art. Three years after his first appearance, American cinema captured the character in a short film titled The gentleman thief. Quickly, the character travels around the world, and finds himself at the center of many international adaptations: in Germany where he faces Sherlock Holmes in 1910 in a film by Viggo Larsen, in France in 1909 in front of the camera of Michel Carré or again in 1916 in Germany, in 1921 in Hungary and even in Japan in 1923.

The first feature film about the thief, The teeth of the tiger, published in 1919 in the USA. From, Arsene Lupine is one of the most adapted characters in the history of cinema. Fifty film versions of the character have emerged since 1908, sometimes in animation, sometimes in live action.

A fun investigation

In 2021, George Kay imagines a new adaptation of the gentleman thief. Arsene then becomes Assane Diop for the needs of Lupine, a series Netflix led by Omar Sy and partly directed by Louis Leterrier. The show immediately aroused enormous enthusiasm. Netflix formalizes a Part 2, then a Part 3, available soon.

Speaking of this Part 3, a few days ago Netflix had fun setting up a playful promotional campaign to the attention of its Internet users. In fact, last Wednesday 19 April, the platform published a photo of a billboard where the mention was read: “Lupine Part 3 will be released on // 2023”. A campaign supported by a video of Omar Sy as Assane:

Internet users have therefore undertaken an investigation to find out the release date of this third party. Their first instinct was to go to the series page directly on the platform. We could therefore find a first clue with the following statement: “Are you looking for Assane? You have to keep a low profile…”. The keyword was here profile. Then you had to go to the profile section of the streaming service. Then, ” Edit profile “. Then several images of Assane appeared with the following numbers: 3, 1, 0, 2, 5, 0. Thus suggesting several possible combinations of release dates: Thursday 5 OctoberTHE Monday 1st May and the Wednesday 10 May.

Finally, Netflix has just provided the definitive answer to this cute little survey. While many fans were counting on a release on Wednesday May 10th, Part 3 of Lupine will finally see the light on October 5th. So, which of you managed to solve the investigation?
