Joe Russo with the cars
AI is all the rage, ChatGPT is everywhere, and the development of these assistive and suggestive technologies will have a growing impact on the film industry. This is the risk-free hypothesis by Joe Russo, director with his brother Anthony of the last two avengers and major Hollywood producer, made in a crossover interview with Donald Mustard, creative director of Epic Games, per Collider.

In doing so, it says nothing very new about the use of technology in filmmaking, since machines have been an integral part of this art since its inception. Rather well placed to know, who has extensive use of CGI in his productions and realizations, Joe Russo does not mention any drawbacks in the use of AI, but points out new opportunities and a historical moment:
There is a great possibility that technology will become a very important factor in our lives, because it has been fully embraced by Generation Z, who grew up with it, understand it, know how to use it. It’s important. We are no longer in a world where your uncle doesn’t know how to send an email.
Potentially, then, we could use artificial intelligence to equip narrative and transform it. With an ever-changing story, whether it’s in a video game, a film, a series. We’d go home and have an AI on the streaming service. “Hey, I want a movie with my photorealistic avatar and Marilyn Monroe. I want it to be a romantic comedy, because it’s been a rough day” and would show a coherent story in dialogue with your voice. Imitate, and now you have a 90-minute rom-com with you in the lead role. And shape the story entirely.
A first film generated by artificial intelligence in less than two years
There would undoubtedly be much to discuss about the obsolescence of his example, taken as a result of his considerations on Generation Z, and on the porosity between fiction and the real world which Joe Russo suggests when illustrating what AI could create. But quite enthusiastic about this idea, he also sees quite closely the production of a film entirely generated by an artificial intelligence.
In his opinion, two years appear to be on the horizonand Donald Mustard also offers a shorter time…
