Netflix: after Dahmer, Ryan Murphy faces another sordid affair

After Dahmer, Ryan Murphy returns with a new true crime series on Netflix

In September 2022, Netflix put the series online Damer co-created by Ryan Murphy. As the name suggests, he is interested in serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer (played by Evan Peters), infamous for killing 17 young men between 1978 and 1991. Because of his particularly sordid crimes, he has been nicknamed “the cannibal of Milwaukee”. As soon as it was put online, the series was seen million timesbecoming one of the most watched shows of all time on Netflix.

Last November, the streaming giant announced the show would become an anthology. Then after Damer, other programs inspired by stories of sordid real crimes will see the light. And today we discover the subject of the next series: it is the story of Lyle and Erik Menendez. It will be released in 2024.

Netflix presented a first taste chilling:

Who are Lyle and Erik Menendez?

Joseph Lyle and Erik Galen Menendez are two American brothers, known for killing their parents in August 1989 in Beverly Hills with shotguns. After a highly publicized trial, they were sentenced to life sentence.

There is a very large gray area regarding the two brothers’ motivations. In fact, if they claimed to have been sexually abused by their father during their childhood, it is possible that this double homicide was also motivated by parental luck equal to 14 million dollars. Amount that the two brothers spent in a hurry, before being arrested after the police attended the sessions with their psychologist.

Before Netflix, this case was already brought to the screen in the first season of the series Law and order True crime in 2017. The two brothers were camped out by actors Gus Halper and Miles Gaston Villanueva.
