What the most discreet skin cancer in the world looks like – a woman did not suspect a mortal danger for years

Melanoma is a type of malignant tumor that forms from pigment cells in the skin, moles and other neoplasms. Melanoma is considered the deadliest type of skin cancer. At the same time, identifying it at the initial stage and taking timely measures makes it possible to achieve an almost 100% chance of survival.

It is almost impossible to determine for yourself whether everything is in order with this or that neoplasm on the skin. Once again, this was confirmed by the story of American Christie Staats. A woman went to the doctor because of a red spot under her eye that hadn’t disappeared from her face in years.

After further examination, it turned out that the mark under Christie’s eye poses no danger – it is a benign vascular formation. But the nearby spot, just 0.65mm in size and invisible to the human eye, turned out to be melanoma. And the smallest ever seen!

Dr. Witkowski, who discovered and removed melanoma in a woman, is convinced that what happened could be a milestone in the treatment of skin cancer. Further research, which he conducted with world experts in this field, will help to recognize melanoma at the so-called “zero” stage – when it has not yet started to spread through the skin and is easier to remove. Well, for all of us, this story is another reminder of the importance of seeing a dermatologist regularly and examining any moles that develop. And don’t forget to use sunscreen!
